Há meses especulava-se que Shakira participaria da canção Mad Love com Sean Paul e David Guetta. Porém, a canção foi lançada com os vocais de Becky G em fevereiro de 2018.
A colombiana havia gravado uma demo e aparece nos créditos como compositora. O tema foi registrado no BMI e ASCAP, como, “Mad Love (Watch The Temple)”, composto por Shakira, David Guetta, Sean Paul, Emily Warren, Soaky Siren, Giorgio Tuinfort, Ina Wroldsen e Raoul Chen.
Desde 2016, Sean Paul concedia entrevistas e se mostrava feliz e entusiasmado por cantar com Shakira, entretanto por motivos desconhecidos a cantora ficou de fora da faixa oficial.
